Contract Technical Developer, Mountain Sports Apparel Knits and Woven

The Apparel Technical Developer position will be responsible for managing the development, timelines, measurement, and specifications ensuring all technical packs including BOM, MM, and Technical details are accurate and up-to-date for all products.

How You Will Make A Difference?

WHAT YOU WILL DO:

  • Independently manage products of moderate to high complexity, troubleshoot and solve moderately complex problems.
  • Use of virtual digital systems, like Browzwear 3D, Optitex, Clo3D to stitch patterns together and look at processes to reduce proto sampling.
  • Prepare all fit and evaluations of the product.
  • Prepare and keep up-to-date BOMs, technical details, mm charts, and BOMs.
  • Clear and accurate verbal and written communication.
  • Deadline-driven with a track record for delivering great results on time
  • Manages moderate to high-level technical development of assigned styles from design concept through to production-ready hand-off, ensuring both fit and technical engineering meets or exceeds expectations.
  • Forward-thinking development accounting for interesting patterns and design details.
  • Plans and tracks the development schedule of all products to ensure a timely completion following the predetermined product development calendar.
  • Partners with Designers and Technical Developers to understand fit intent and aesthetics ensuring translation into proto samples.
  • Ensures execution of fit intent and fit consistency through clear analysis, documentation, communication, adherence to fit standards, and use of block patterns.
  • Develops products, and construction techniques that meet Design expectations.
  • Creates the specifications for the products, publishes and maintains all records, style files, Bill of Materials, and samples associated with the product and related programs.
  • Identifies and assists in the development of department guidelines and standards to ensure operational excellence and consistency across teams.
  • Provide insight and guidance to regional sourcing and technical teams.
  • Some travel overseas to manufactures may be required.
  • Participate in special projects, processes, or calendar optimization with supervision.
  • Mentor and coach Assistant technical development.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

  • Must have Browzwear 3D, Optitex, Clo3D experience.
  • Adobe Illustrator experience preferred.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Knowledge of patternmaking.
  • Advanced knowledge of production garment construction and manufacturing.
  • Strong knowledge of material construction trims and related testing.
  • Advanced knowledge of costing.
  • Ability to understand fit a garment and comment.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Fluent in English (written and spoken).
  • Advanced MS Office skills and strong ability to work with Product Data Management Systems.

REQUISITE EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE / MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • College or University degree.
  • 3-5 years of related work experience in the apparel industry.
